Sacha Eddington & Jo Peachey are owners of new yoga studio, The Yogi Tree in East Greenwich. Yoga has for a long time been their separate passion and it not only brought them together, but much of their friendship has been based around their
shared yogic experiences.
Their small ‘ecological’ yoga studio is a beautiful and ambient space dedicated to the practise of yoga, meditation and alternative therapies for the benefit and wellbeing of the local community. They provide a range of different styles of yoga including remedial, pre & post pregnancy, yoga for children and special needs classes – an area which they are aiming to extend.
Sacha expands: “The Yogi Tree is unique in the sense that it is a dedicated yoga space operating with conscious awareness of the environment and the products we use – we have set up the studio using ecological products for cleaning, energy and equipment”.
The Yogi Tree was born when Jo, having returned from working abroad, had an ‘eureka’ moment when chancing upon a group of new live/work units in Greenwich – not only would they make a great home, but also an excellent yoga studio. Sacha, having recently stopped working at the Special Yoga Centre due to distance and her new family concurred.
Sacha has a business degree from New Zealand where she worked for a time in Marketing & Advertising. On her return to the UK, Sacha worked in IT for a bank. During her 8 years in the city, yoga became her oasis, providing relief from the stress of the corporate lifestyle. It was also the catalyst for her leap of faith in 2002, when she gave it all up for Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training in India. This set her life on a whole new path, leading up to managing the Special Yoga Centre in London a charity very close to her heart that teaches children with special needs.
Jo continues to lead a corporate lifestyle as a management consultant but is constantly searching for that elusive life/work balance – yoga has always been the one constant throughout her life – “something I can do anywhere, at any time, in any country”.
The Yogi Tree is available to hire for classes, workshops and alternative therapies. The main studio provides comfortable spacing for approximately 12 yoga mats and is fully equipped with mats, bolsters, blankets, eye pillows, blocks & belts. There is large a changing room which also doubles as a therapy room, and comfortably holds a massage bed or floor futon.
Jo and Sacha are also looking for teachers to hire space for workshops or classes and aim to build an internal community of teachers and therapists who can benefit from working with each other developing their teaching abilities, building friendships and working with them to build a successful, conscious business.
